PhD, Senior Researcher
I am studying how technology–including blockchain–changes financial markets, knowlegde, and expertise.
I am engaged in several new projects. A large project, funded by a GBP650,000 grant from the Economic and Social Research Council UK investigates expert collaborations between finance professionals and computer engineers in blockchain and cryptoasset firms on a global scale. We want to understand how new knowledge is created in such firms and circulated among engineering and finance experts.
Another project I am conducting with PhD students and colleagues investigates the impact of social media on financial decision making. Why do traders keep trading, even if they do not make money consistently? Together with Raymond So, Xiaochuan Tong, and Andrew McFaull, we investigate a large dataset with over one million transactions. We find that market organisation, and especially the integration of the social media plays a signficant role with respect to the traders’ persistence in the market. We shed light about how social media changes behaviour in markets. We have a number of published papers and there is more to come!
The third project is conducted on collaboration with Roland Gemayel, my former PhD student and current colleague. We investigate cryptoasset trading platforms and the behaviour of traders in crypto assets. we have a few papers in the pipeline, so watch this space! 🙂
